The Great Convergence Festival

Beats Antique

Want a creative way to mark the Winter Solstice and the dawning of a new era? Here’s an amazing festival trip!
The Great Convergence Festival 2012 has curated eight full days of music and travel. Your year-end musical journey travels from the Great Pyramid on December 21 to a Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan.
The bands chosen to set the mood include: Oakland-based Beats Antique who meld breakbeat brass, dubstep and Middle Eastern sounds; Random Rab takes you on a sonic exploration of ancient worlds; Electronica-dub scene maven Gaudi’s unique live shows include the Theremin, Moog and Vocoder; and, Fanna Fi Allah are steeped in the ancient sufi mystic traditions of Qawwali music, a devotional practice and art form.
Now that’s a festive way to finish up 2012 and ring in the New Year!
