A Tribe Called Red

In late-autumn Winnipeg, Aboriginal Music Week shows off the sonic creativity of Native Americans, Inuit and Indigenous musicians who are making an impact on genres ranging from today’s blues to rap.
Otherworldly throat singer Tanya Tagaq’s signature solo style has folks like Bjork raving. Brazil’s funk carioca idol Zuzuka Poderosa rock out straight from the favelas of Rio.
The fresh electro-pop tinged hip hop of LightningCloud bring up the energy of the underground club scene. A Tribe Called Red perform at this year’s festival and here’s a great KadmusArts podcast interview with them.
