Australian Blues Festival

Eugene Bridge

Combine the best in blues music with the best in brews and you have the birth of a destination festival.
As with so many great festivals, the National Festival of Australian Blues Music was created by a couple of local publicans. Since their start in 1997, the Australian Blues Festival has become one of the best in blues fests the world over.
For four days in Goulburn, you can catch the hottest of the emerging and well established acts from 11 in the morning through the night. The festival takes place in venues throughout town in pubs, clubs, cafes, and the main park.
In addition to the ticketed events, there are also free performances, workshops with some of the players, an open mic, vintage guitar and amp shop, an all-star pro jam, and, of course, plenty of parties. Everything begins with the opening night Australian Blues Music “Chain” Awards. Want some blues history? You’ll also find a plenty of Aussie Blues cds and dvds for sale.
Just a few of this year’s highlights include Eugene “Hideaway” Bridges, Chase the Sun with Claude Hay, and Tabasco Tom & Doc White.
Forget the winter blues. Get to the Australian blues!
