What do festivals and a New Year have in common? Celebration!
There’s no better way to spend New Year’s Eve than with family and friends at the Woodford Folk Festival, located on a 500-acre environmental parkland just north of Brisbane, Australia.
This year there is a dream within a festival as The Dreaming, Australia’s Indigenous Festival will be interwoven throughout the Woodford program. Canadian Cree singer/songwriter and activist Buffy Sainte-Marie takes her magical voice to the stage, and the pride of Canadian folk music, The Once, create harmony to close out 2011.
New Orleans jazz and blues band Tuba Skinny are just as happy busking as they are on stage. They’ll also be leading a Lindy Hop Swing Dance Night, so bring your dancing shoes.
The closing ceremony on the eve of January 1st culminates in a Fire Event, led by an Aboriginal Ceremony Man who creates fire using the traditional sticks method.
