Headlong Dance Theater is known for its collaborative interdisciplinary approach to dance, as well as for making works that are innovative and engaging.
In this podcast we talk with Amy Smith, who — along with fellow founders David Brick and Andrew Simonet — has created over forty dances. Amy sheds light on the creation of their latest work, Red Rovers, which involves robot explorers, long distance love, and a Donkey Kong dream sequence. She also talks about structural improvisation techniques and their artistic home of Philadelphia. Red Rovers will be performed at the 2011 Philadelphia Live Arts Festival.
