James Long: The Photographic Memory

James LongJames Long is a writer, performer and co-artistic director of Theatre Replacement, based in Vancouver, Canada. He will perform in the theatre piece Clark and I Somewhere in Connecticut at the 2010 PuSh International Performing Arts Festival. The piece revolves around a found suitcase of photo albums and explores questions of memory, the value of remembering, and the process of finding the people in the photographs.

In this interview James talks about how this work was created along with Rumble Productions, allegations of copyright infringement, and the arts funding crisis in Canada.

Federico Aubele: Revisiting the Bolero

Federico AubeleArgentine singer-songwriter and guitarist Federico Aubele’s music is a synthesis of his influences which range from dub to tango. His third and most recent album, Amatoria, is inspired by classic bolero and uses delicate guitar and vocals to create intimate love songs.

In this interview he talks about his evolution as a musician, how music helps you get through the teenage years and his upcoming performance at globalFEST.

Cara Dillon: Champion of Irish Music

Cara DillonCara Dillon is the all-Ireland champion of original and traditional music. She grew up in a musical family and has sung with lauded folk groups, including Equation. Her most recent album, Hill of Thieves, has been nominated for three 2010 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, and she is also appearing at globalFEST 2010.

In this interview Cara talks about opportunities for young musicians in Ireland, the pros and cons of major and indie record labels, and why live performance is at the heart of her music.
