Ironic, melancholy, longing, triumphant — songs about drinking cover the range of human emotions. Pour yourself a glass of your favorite beverage, close your eyes and picture yourself as the ever-understanding bartender, as you listen to this playlist:
Barenaked Ladies — Alcohol
Lucille Bogan — Sloppy Drunk Blues
Jimmy Buffett — Margaritaville
The Reverend Horton Heat — Liquor, Beer, and Wine
Mad Professor — Get Drunk and Celebrate
Monty Python — Bruce’s Philosophers Song
Nina Simone — Lilac Wine
Frank Sinatra — One for My Baby (And One More for the Road)
UB40 — Red, Red Wine
The Who — Old Red Wine

"Mexican Wine"
by
Fountains of Wayne.
Interesting lyrics, and fun music video that can be seen at their website:

"Salud, Dinero y Amor"
(Health, Money and Love) by the band
Los Rodriguez
, was a hit in the 1990s in Argentina, especially in times of toasts
Video clip worth watching too:

Ruben,
Don't neglect the subtle musicality of AC/DC's "Have a Drink on Me". Classic!

Summer Wine
- a beautiful song (written by Lee Hazlewood)
1968 - performed by Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazlewood
There are some recent versions on youtube. Both pretty good.
Ville Valo & Natalia Avelon:

There is another song that I would like to add, coming from Ukrainian culture. I first heard it from Kurbas Theatre actors (it's probably their favourite), who were singing it, simultaneously performing the ritual of passing the cup of wine in a circle: "Pyiemo, pyiemo po dva try, po try dnia..." (Which means in translation "We're drinking two, three days in a row).
There is a beautiful recording of this song by Maryana Sadovska.

mmm I like Jimmy Buffet too but there is nothing I like better than to listen to our own British Country Band's Cross Country/Little rock doing their version of Tom Woppats "Cars". For some unknown reason this is my favourite song of all time.
I also like Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong and even was a fan of Mario Lanza.
My music tastes stretch through all kinds of music even The Hebrides better known as Fingles Cave.
