County Wexford, located in the south east corner of Ireland has much to commend it. Chief amongst its cultural treasures is this week’s featured festival — Wexford Festival Opera. County Wexford is also one of the largest producers of strawberries in Ireland.
The peak season for strawberries is June, when you can join in the celebration of the Wexford Strawberry Festival. Given that it is October now, probably the best way to enjoy this treat is as strawberry preserves in a nice flaky scone. You can enjoy these in a pub between opera performances, or try them at home. The result will be the same: delicious!
