| Festival Description | The International Organ Festival in Chartres combines intense competition for prestigious awards with organ concerts, known as Festival Evenings (occurring every Thursday evening for the duration of the Festival). Created in 1975, the Festival takes place in the Cathedral of Chartres. Nearly 360 organ concerts have been organized since its creation. Master organists are invited, prizes are awarded to the winner of the international contest, including French and foreign young talents. Each concert of the Festival attracts a large crowd, filling up the immense nave of the Cathedral—approximately 1,000 to 1,200 people perconcert. |
