Jyväskylä Arts Festival is a multi-arts event—theatre stages accommodate contemporary circus, comedians, mimes and international stars of physical theatre with their masterfully smooth combination of timing and movement. Splendid concerts aside, the Festival provides a programme of new and early music performed in the atmospheric setting of the city's churches. A special programme for children ranges from peaceful storytelling to vigorous activity. Leading performers will appear at the summer clubs in familiar and surprising combinations, with virtuosi, vocal bravura and verbal detachment. Other attractions to look out for new wave cinema, cult films, debates and club music. New technology, culture, art, time and remembrance combine in an international spoken programme for our shrinking world.
