| Festival Description | The Crusell Week, dedicated to woodwind instruments, is held in Uusikaupunki from July 25 to August 1, 2009, for the 28th time. This year Virtuosi di Kuhmo chamber orchestra pays a visit to the festival. The orchestra is conducted by John Storgårds. Other domestic Crusell Week artists include e.g. string quartet Meta4 and Jukka Perko (sax.). Foreign artists include Felix Renggli (flute), Ingo Goritzki (oboe), Larry Combs, Wenzel Fuchs, Alessandro Carbonare, Michel Lethiec (clarinet) and Richard Galler (bassoon), to mention but a few. Crusell Week’s Artistic Director is Jussi Särkkä. The Night of the Lanterns, an atmospheric musical picnic for the whole family, and Jazz Night play their own important role in the versatile program of the festival. Children will also receive some quality entertainment during Crusell Week. The International Crusell Clarinet Competition takes place from July 25 - 30, 2009 in Uusikaupunki, Finland. |
