| Festival Description | The NEATA Festival presents drama from diverse cultures, thereby comparing, and defining their position in amateur theatre works and discussions. These theater groups learn from each other, develop, gain motivation, and collect ideas for future projects. The Estonian Amateur Theatre Association organizes the festival in co-operation with Estonian Amateur Theatre Association, Estonian Ministery of Culture, Estonian Culture Endowment Fund, Council of Nordic Ministries, Viljandi Town Government, Viljandi Culture Academy, Training Center of Vana-Võidu, and Theatre “Ugala”. Amateur theatre group from each NEATA country are invited—they include Denmark, Faeroes, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Estonia. The main emphasis is on visual theatre, motion, dance and music theatre, and mime. In addition to theatre performances there are workshops, discussions and an excursion. |
