| Festival Description | The CrisisArt Festival is a not-for-profit festival that was constructed and organized by a collective. All participants take part in every aspect of the festival, from workshops and performances to lending a helping hand. In addition the participants remain at the festival for the entire festival period and also assist in the creation of our final collaborative performance piece. The programming features performances, workshops and lectures by international and national artists. The first edition of the festival took place in 2011 and it is with the interest and support of the participating artists that the events took place. The aim of the festival is to challenge the notion that an artistic program cannot get off the ground without funding, interested audiences and despite the turmoil of political and economic situations. Art will always live in crisis but will thrive through the perseverance of passionate artists and their constant need to create and to enrich culture. |

Festival Story:
The CrisisArt festival is a response to what we perceive as a world in crisis. We are an autonomous group of international artists and social activists, inspired by the ongoing Occupy movements. The CrisisArt festival invites artists, activists, and academics to share their stories and ideas relating to crisis in the world we live in, whether on a global, national, or personal level.
