| Festival Description | Baltoscandal international theatre festival was first held in 1990 and has since then become a biennial event. It was the first international theatre festival in the Baltic countries and is still one of the biggest. Since 1994 it has taken place in Rakvere, a small town some 100 km to East from the capital Tallinn. Baltoscandal is a festival of various dance forms, innovative music, and audio-visual forms, but its principal aim is contemporary theatre. The festival features a very intensive program (5 performances a day) with discussions, midnight open-air films and more. The Estonian theatre program is organized with an array special theatre, music and dance projects under the name “non-existing theatre”. The social life of the festival is also very important. A festival club with food, drinks and live music is open for everybody. |
