The CICA International Summer Music Festival and School is a month-long classical music extravaganza, now entering its third year and already drawing performers, students and audiences from Europe and East Asia, as well as the United States. Created and managed by Thomas Chun-yu Chen—a Fayetteville, AR violinist, violin maker, composer and conductor—the event is slated for June 11-July 7. Chen said the daytime classes will be held at the Eureka Springs Middle School, with evening concerts for the public at The Auditorium.
CICA Summer Music Festival offers a tremendous scope of offerings for students and professional musicians. The programming includes an Advanced Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Music Program, an international Concerto Competition, an Advanced Guitar Summer Program, and an Advanced Composition Program. The programming is open to violin, cello, bass, viola, winds and brass instruments, guitar, harp, percussion, and voice students. Highly acclaimed musicians will conduct workshops and offer first hand feedback to the participants. The festival season is broken down into four week-long sessions.
