Featured presentations 2010:
- Lowdown Wax
- Directed by Lake Simons is a visual feast of shapes and forms danced to the wistful and raw sounds of The Squirrel Nut Zippers. Bring the entire family for this playful puppetry drama with a tad of sideshow flair! Simons uses a variety of puppetry styles including object, shadow, and large scale puppets to spin that yarn that knits this eclectic tale.
- The Avid Listener’s Walking Tour (In Stereo)
- By Erin K. Orr, Chris Green and Lake Simons with music by Bruce Balentine
Annual Puppet Pageant August 20 - 22 at 8:00pm
As always, the performance is built and performed by the DFW community. Music will inspire the pageant’s visual story. Bruce Balentine and Chris Green will work with participants to create instruments from found objects and discover the sound that abounds! These musical creations will be the backbone of the event, as well as serving as puppetry elements in the pageant. As in years past, theatrical tools such as mask, movement, and a variety of puppetry styles will be utilized and expand the boundaries of puppetry. All the parade elements: puppets, masks, musical instruments, costumes and set pieces will be built by the DFW community. FREE for all participants and FREE for pageant performance.
