The Kota Kinabalu Jazz Festival (KKJF) is an annual fund raising jazz extravaganza organized by the Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu (RCKK) and the Society of Performing Arts Kota Kinabalu Sabah (SPArKS). Staged in the picturesque nature resort city of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, the jazz festival brings together a musical melting pot of talents from around the world.
The line-up of artists includes international names and talented Sabahan bands and singers. Acknowledging the immense musical gifts of the people from the Land Below the Wind, KKJF also serves as an ideal stage for showcasing local artists. The KKJF is widely regarded as a signature highlight in Sabah’s annual calendar of events, and is also a key component of the Kota Kinabalu Arts Festival. The KKJF consists of several other events apart from the main stage performances such as the Sabah Jazz Talent Search, Fringe shows and Workshops — all perfectly tying in to the lead-up to the KKJF.
The Fringe Events are a series of mini jazz concerts hosted around Kota Kinabalu during the 2 weeks leading up to the main stage of KK Jazz Festival. It is a celebrated events where members of public can view close up performance by various local artists. The Fringe stages provided a platform for local artists to gain desirable exposure in the music and entertainment scene. Selected bands from the annual Sabah Jazz Talent Search are also invited to perform during the Fringe Event.
