Festival Description

The festival takes place in New York at a number of venues including — Nublu, Central Park, Poisson Rouge, S.O.B.’s and others. The weeklong festival of traditional Brazilian music presents contemporary Brazilan artists — samba, forro and bossanova, manguebeat, rock, funk, hip-hop and more.

    • Guard your gadgets against Brazilian Mikael Mutti. He has discovered that by stripping the guts out of Wii remotes, Guitar Hero controllers, and other devices, he can make electronic musical instruments for his new band Percussivo Mundo Novo. PMN will be touring the US next month. Dates and full release listed below. Let me know if you’re interested in covering any of the shows or interviewing Mutti, who speaks English fluently and has a lot to say about his futuristic method of preserving Brazilian musical tradition.
