Festival Description

Since 2006, Melodia! South American Music Festival has offered a unique and fabulous experience for youth and children’s choirs. It is set in the beautiful environments of Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires, where outstanding artistic experiences are combined with once-in-a-lifetime cultural and outreach opportunities. Concert highlights have included performances in major halls in Argentina, performances at Teatro Colón and Catedral Metropolitana in Buenos Aires, and at the Candelaria Church and Nossa Senhora da Paz Church in Rio, and the Winter Music Festival in the royal city of Petropolis. Days of cultural outreach and exchange have included singing, dancing and drumming with Brazilian samba school students and members of the Cidade de Deus Children’s Choir from the “City of God” and memorable cultural exchanges with local music schools. This year’s guest conductor is Rollo Dilworth, a renowned Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities and Music Education at the North Park University School of Music in Chicago, Illinois. The festival is arranged by Classical Movements. http://www.classicalmovements.com.
