Festival Description

Featured in the newspapers and television channels of Brazil’s leading press conglomerate, O Globo, as well as in all of Argentina’s major newspapers from La Nación to Clarín, the Melodia! South American Music Festival is a celebration of choral music in South America. In 2014, Melodia! will take place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with possible extensions to other countries in the region. The festival features performances by individual choirs; new in 2014, Melodia! will offer an optional choral competition. Competing choirs will sing before a panel of international judges with the opportunity to earn monetary and trophy awards. The best-rated choir at the festival will win a newly-commissioned work in honor of both the choir and the festival.

Concerts will take place in some of Argentina’s top venues in Buenos Aires and the surrounding area. Outreach, tango shows, a real Argentinean gaucho ranch, cultural exchanges with local students and music ensembles, a Latin American music workshop, and exceptional sightseeing opportunities make this festival a unique and exciting experience. Open to all choirs.
