| Festival Description | The Istanbul Dance Camera Festival presents works-in-progress and new dance, and dance photos of film productions. The programming includes dance photo exhibitions, documentary films, video dance installations, and workshops. The mixed genres of dance presentation encourages collaborations, research and artist and scientific exploration among international artists. The cultural and artistic exchange of techniques is the primary aim of the festival. |

Maida Withers’ film was selected and screened at the Istanbul Dance on Camera Festival, November 2010 as part of “Amerika Seckisi (Film Selection from America).

Political dance film, shot in unique Soviet Era architectural structure in Solovki Island, that makes connection between Russia’s Gulag, forced labor camps, and America’s Abu Ghraib, treatment of prisoners at Guantenamo Bay. The unique building was the hanger for a dirigible (airship) that delivered supplies to the GULAG. Solovki Island and the GULAG are known to us through the writings of Alexander Issajewitsch Solschenizyn. This building temporarily housed the Art Angar Center for Contemporary Arts that sponsored our dance residency on the island. - Credits
