Artist feature 2014:
- Brassroots is an 8-piece East London-based brass-band and percussion outfit, fusing an eclectic collection of musical genres played by a group of international musicians with groove, energy and an incredible funkiness. Brassroots are not only infectious performers - they are brass band activists. They want to put the live and instrumental back into pop music, so they take familiar tunes and add their brass magic, supporting a growing circuit for funky brass bands in the UK. They’ve worked with vocalists, MCs and DJs, so they’ve got a dance music ethic, loving nothing more than a packed dance-floor. The group has unleashed knock-out shows to sold-out audiences at Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party and Bestival and have earnt airplay on BBC Radio 1, Magic and Choice FM radio stations. Leaving fans screaming at the top or their lungs for more is their calling card and the band is poised to bring a brand new energy and appeal to a tragically under-rated genre. They will headline the Saturday night at the Barbican International Jazz & Blues Festival.
