| Festival Description | The Woollahra Festival grew from a desire among key figures in the local Queen Street community to celebrate this unique precinct as a creative and intellectual hub, and welcome all Sydneysiders to share in this vibrant village atmosphere. The aim is to create a truly local and intimate Festival of Arts, Culture and Ideas, located right in the heart of Queen Street Village. The festival is produced by the community, for the community and the wider audiences of Sydney. Drawing on the immense amount of talent among the residents of Woollahra and the greater Wentworth area, the Festival is a unique, playful and stimulating festival of arts, culture and ideas. It celebrates community and the creative life through public discussion and engagement and promotes enjoyment of the arts. Woollahra Festival Arts and Ideas is a two stranded festival; a cutting edge ideas program with some of Sydney’s leading minds, and a free outdoor performance program with a head turning line-up of musicians, comedians and performance artists. Our diverse program includes: 30 talks over 3 days with around 60 speakers on a range of topics including current affairs, art, food and wine, science, literature, politics and much more. Over 100 performers including comedians, performing artists, fitness, musicians, acrobats, flashmobs and more. A special kids program on Sunday morning jam packed with fun for families. And best of all, all of the outdoor entertainment and some talks are FREE! |

Festival Story:
“Queen Street Woollahra is one of the most charming streets in Sydney,” said Artistic Director Ros Horin. “I want to celebrate its unique village atmosphere and make its tree lined boulevard sing with the sounds of music, song, dance and all sorts of other surprising and delightful performances. This festival is about community and the SITEWORX performance program will have people engaging, relating, playing - and literally dancing in the streets.”
