| Festival Description | The North Atlantic Fiddle Convention celebrates the the artistry of traditional fiddlers, fiddle music and dance from countries around the North Atlantic. The international festival with a conference features a program of concerts, workshops, sessions, ceilidhs, and recitals. The showcase of over 40 national and international traditional musicians and dancers take part — coming from Canada, England, Ireland, Denmark, Norway, Scotland, Sweden, Spain, Wales, and the USA. The festival and convention will reflect on the instrument’s cultural impact as related to music, dance styles and the evolving traditions of the fiddle’s use — geographical, political, and cultural. Styles and influences of each culture’s interpretation over the centuries to the present day will continue to evolve and generate continual adaptations, collaborations, and discussions…. |
