International Gong Festival

The International Gong Festival will take place for the first time in 2009 as part of celebrations planned for the lead-up to the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi in 2010. Over ten countries and territories in Southeast Asia and Asia have been invited to participate in the festival. The gong has played an integral part in the Central Highlands cultural heritage. Gong troupes from five provinces in the Central Highlands, including Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong and Lam Dong will be an important part of the event. The festival provides an opportunity to promote the cultural value and music of the Central Highlands’ gong to the rest of the country and the world.
