The South Blues Night was organized by Fabrice Hermans in 1991. The participating musicians have included Rod Piazza, James Harman, Luther Allison, Lonnie Mack and Canned Heat as well as supporting and encouranging up-and-coming acts. Ten years after the last edition, still flanked by the same faithful friends and in association with a new organisation (JCP Blues product ion), the South Blues festival rose from the ashes with still the same motto “rise again”.
To re-create the same environment, the organizers asked Walter De Paduwa (alias Dr Boogie), then already a member of the curatorial team - its favorite acts of the moment — Rusty Roots, was given the honor to open the festival with a sound made up of a considerable amount soul music blended with Blues http://www.rustyroots.be/.
The South Blues festival also gives the necessary attention to acoustic blues (i.e. TOMs Shaka, Terry Garland, Roland Van Campenhout,…). This year has signed on two Belgian artists with international eminence Marc Lelangue and Steven the Bruyn who will perform together. http://www.marc-lelangue.net/ and http://www.therhythmjunks.com/
For the first time the festival will establish attention on a related music genres of the blues. In this context we have programmed The Seatsniffers. Their blues music is a vigorous blend of rock ‘n roll http://www.seatsniffers.be/
The worthy final clincher of this festival is Nine Below zero who previously headlined at the first edition of the South Blues festival. http://www.ninebelowzero.com/
