Since 1986, Independence Rock has been an annual event in India. The festival features up-and-coming artists who make their debut at the popular rock festival. Launched at the festival, many go on to achieve success and enjoy a career in music. The competitive festival has two phases: The first is the Pub competition followed by the Victory Lap, where the winners perform at large city venues. The festival takes place in different cities each year and features approximately 40 rock bands chosen from many submissions who vie for being named the winning bands who take part in the Grand Finals.
