| Festival Description | Since 2000 the Himalayan International Cultural Association was organized by a team of music enthusiasts to develop the local cultural heritage of Nepal. One of the ways that Nepalese culture is kept alive is throught the HICA Festival. The association seeks to preserve traditional Nepalese Cultural heritage, by promoting the Nepalese traditional music and cultural dances. The organization trains the youth about the folk dances and folk music which are endanger of vanishing. Its aim is to popularize the Nepalese Music and art of dances to the world at large and to establish a cultural exchange between different institutions and associations of different countries. Developing cultural tourism in Nepal is one of the ways the traditions are practiced and shared with visitors. The target of the association is to establish additional chapters in major cities of Nepal to promote and preserve the Nepalese cultures of various ethnic groups. Currently, there are 84 members from 4 cultural groups and it is expected to grow incrementally. The assocation wishes to share its culture by participating in the International Folklore Festivals to have an cultural exchanges between nations.
