| Festival Description | The Morin Khuur Festival for Composers began 1986. The competitive event has three categories of contestants—public, professional and children’s songs—one of which will be awarded the the Grand Prize. The organizers in particular encourage the composers who write music for children to ensure that the works are suited to the ability of youngsters. The traditional two-stringed instrument is an integral part of Mongolian culture, and it is through the festival the organizers aim to keep the youth interested and inspired by the music of their elders. |
