| Festival Description | The Alsek Festival took place on the green shores of the Dezadeash River under the majestic Front Ranges of the St. Elias Mountains. This stunning Yukon location, just outside world-renowned Kluane National Park, inspired musicians and audiences alike. A truly northern event, Alsek did not rely on big names from “Outside” to attract audiences. It drew instead on the ample talents of northerners to provide a wide variety of first-rate music. While the majority of performers tended to be from within Yukon, the festival also featured acts from other northern locations—Northern BC, NWT and Alaska. And since the focus was original northern music in any genre, Alsek offered an incredible variety of musical styles, from folk to jazz, classical to country, bluegrass to rock-and-roll. As well as live music on three stages, the festival also offered craft sales, food booths, and a well-equipped KidZone for family entertainment. |
