| Festival Description | Lethbridge and District Kiwanis Music and Speech Arts Festival is a competitive festival drawing 5,500 participants and 1,400 entries. The participants include school ensembles—choirs, bands, musical theatre—to young vocalists, musicians and elocutionists. The festival also includes 15 adjudicators, hundreds of events held at six different venues, and more than $16,000 in awards to be presented. The Stars of the Festival Concert showcases the top performers each year is one of the highlights of the festival. It takes place at the Yates Centre, beginning at 7:00pm. on April 17, 2008. Provincial winners will then move on to participate in the 2008 National Music Festival, also held in Edmonton from August 14-16, 2008. |
