| Festival Description | Since 1993 the Mortlake Buskers Festival has produced the annual (no festival is planned for 2009 — stay tuned for 2010) festival dedicated to busking—where musicians and street performers take their acts to public spaces in a relaxed, informal environment. A team of volunteers on behalf of the Festival are on the lookout year-round for buskers to invite to perform at the event. In addition, the Festival offers wonderful food and wine to enjoy. The Festival takes place in Market Square and on the main street of Mortlake in Victoria. Each year one of the buskers is bestowed the title of “Australian Busking Champion” and is awarded a cash prize. The Championship qualifies the group or individual to perform at the Port Fairy Folk Festival. For more information about this festival visit the profile page at |
