| Festival Description | Vietnam's Lunar New Year Festival is one of the biggest festivals in the country: the Rough Guide to Vietnam calls it "the Vietnamese equivalent of Thanksgiving, New Year and a nationwide birthday rolled into one." In addition to ushering out the old year and welcoming in the new one, ancestors and elders are honored, the kitchen god is sent off, and money is given to children for luck. |
