| Festival Description | The Theatre Natok Sarani organizes the festival with opening day celebrations that honor the 74th birthday of its president and also playwright Momtaz Uddin Ahmad. In 2008 the five-day Theatre Natak Sarani Drama Festival takes place in January in Dhaka at the Mahila Samiti auditorium on Bailey Street. The festival is dedicated to at number of influential individuals from Bangladesh. The individuals being honored are: Obaid Ul Huq (journalist), Mahbub Ul alam Chowdhury (poet), Nitun Kundu (artist), Waheedul Haque (cultural movement leader and journalist), and Selm Al-Deen (playwright). Theatre groups from India and Bangladesh are participating in the festival. |
