| Festival Description | The 2011 Season’s theme will be “Positivity versus Passivity”. The Ashtar Theatre is the Center of the Theatre for the Oppressed (TO) in the Middle East and the only regional training center for this technique. In 2007, Ashtar Theatre, in cooperation with local and international donors, conducted the first round of The Season of the Theatre of Oppressed Days: “Building Bridges…Breaking Barriers” in Palestine to address social sensitive issues related to violence against women and youth using the Theatre of the Oppressed (TO) as a social development tool. In 2009, the Season carried on in its second round: “Raise Your Voice… Preserve Your Rights” with a greater international participation including performance and workshops from Africa, Europe and South America. Following the success of the first and second rounds of the Season of the Theatre of the Oppressed Days in Palestine, Ashtar Theatre is happy to announce the third round of the Season from the 16th March – 14th May, 2011, in Palestine. |
