The Newtown Neigbhourhood Centre hosts the Newtown Festival as a fundraiser for the Centre’s services for the disadvantaged in the community. The Main Stage is the hub of the Festival!—This stage has the capacity for crowds of thousands. This stage is where performers want to be, having played host to the Whitlams, Evermore, Sarah Blasko, and the Herd. Surrounded by almost 150 stalls this area is the place where people meet, greet and congregate on the festival day. There are 4 stages with an array of acts; a huge Kids and Family Zone; A Writers Stage; A Chill Zone; 280 Market and Food Stalls; Street theatre and Art Spaces; Licensed Bars; and an Eco Area with workshops, stalls and talks.

Newtown Festival’s green initiatives—Check out the Eco Zone for tons of handy hints, tips, workshops and advice that will show you how easy it is to be ‘green’. Newtown residents have potential to lead the way in Sydney; showing how cooperative communities can do their bit, even in small, limited spaces that will make a positive difference to the environment. All workshops are free.
