| Festival Description | The International Jazz Music Festival “Aile Jazz” was initiated in 2005 and was originally titled “Days of Jazz in Liepāja”. The festival originally featured a unique blend of classical and jazz music, but moved on to focus on jazz music. Four individuals came together to produce the festival — Valdis Mors (the sponsor of the festival – “AILE grupa”), Liepāja Culture Department (the organizer of the festival), Jēkabs Ozoliņš (the artistic director of the festival) and Julian Joseph (the godfather of the festival, British composer and pianist). The Liepāja Jazz Festival presented a new music tradition in the western part of Latvia that provided theopportunity for the Liepāja and Kurzeme people to meet the jazz music stars from Latvia and abroad. |
