| Festival Description | The International Jazz Music Festival “Aile Jazz” was initiated in 2005 and was originally titled “Days of Jazz in Liepāja”. The festival originally featured a unique blend of classical and jazz music, but has since focused on jazz music. Four individuals came together to produce the festival—Valdis Mors (the sponsor of the festival – “AILE grupa”), Liepāja Culture Department (the organizer of the festival), Jēkabs Ozoliņš (the artistic director of the festival) and Julian Joseph (the godfather of the festival, British composer and pianist). The Liepāja Jazz Festival presents a new music tradition in the western part of Latvia that provides the wonderful opportunity for the Liepāja and Kurzeme people—to meet the jazz music stars from Latvia and abroad. |
