| Festival Description | Over the three-plus decades of presenting the Stanford Jazz Festival, they’ve found that there is a special energy to our concerts. Most of the performers are also faculty for the Stanford educational programs, which coincide with the festival. From veteran statesmen to emerging talents and local standouts, these artists work closely together—collaborating, teaching, interacting, jamming. These artists encourage and befriend each other, while inspiring and being inspired by our enthusiastic students aged 12 to 80. All this combined talent in residence fosters the creative intensity evident on the intimate concert stages of the Stanford Jazz Festival. Each year the festival presents more than 30 performances by jazz masters, acclaimed contemporary standouts, and emerging stars. The Festival is renowned for presenting a healthy dose of straight-ahead jazz, flavored with innovative modern stylings, traditional, blues, salsa, Brazilian, and other cross-cultural approaches to musical improvisation. |
