Celtic World International Festival from Ortigueira

The Ortigueira Festival took place 1978 for the first time and attracts thousands of visitors every year. In the year 2000 the Festival broadened its musical horizon beyond its Celtic theme towards other kinds of music. The Festival, organised by Ortigueira’s local government, was assigned the status of being an Event of National Touristic Importance, an award given in 2003 by the Ministry of Finance. It was in May of 2005, when the folk meeting was declared International Turist Interest Festival. Only 29 events in Spain are honored with this distinction.
