Kammermusik Festival Schloss Moritzburg e. V.
The Moritzburg Festival under the artistic direction of the ECHO awarded cellist Jan Vogler belongs to the most internationally significant chamber music festivals. Every year in August more than 25 soloists from all over the world come to Moritzburg to concentrate on chamber music works which are performed in various concerts. The unique concept of the Moritzburg Festival combines concerts in the baroque Moritzburg Castle, the local church of Moritzburg, the Proschwitz Wine Estate, the Dresden Frauenkirche and the Volkswagen “Die Gläserne Manufaktur” (The Transparent Factory) in Dresden.
|Festival Dates||August 5 - 19, 2012|
Moritzburg Festival was founded in 1993 on the model of the Marlboro Festival that is held in the USA. The founders were inspired to establish a similar concept in the German federal state of Saxony. Moritzburg Castle near Dresden appeared to be the ideal setting to carry out this ambitious project. Owing to the presence of internationally renowned soloists and to the unique atmosphere of Moritzburg Castle the festival has quickly developed a unique spirit defined by highest musical standards and enthusiasm of the participating artists. Moritzburg has thus become a workshop of intense exchange of musical ideas, as far as the artists are concerned, and for the audience a top class music event which attracts visitors both from Germany and from abroad. The festival takes place every August. During two weeks soloists from all over the world concentrate on works of chamber music and perform them in concerts at the end.
