| Festival Description | Festival of Contemporary Polish Plays R@Port which had its first edition in May 2006, is primarily a competitive review of the most important Polish productions created after 1989 both within and outside of the country. The idea of the festival stems from a deep conviction, shared by many artists, that theater can again become an important sphere of community life, redefining the truth about the contemporary human being. The name of the festival attributes the function of the rapport with the reality of contemporary theater. Theater has entered the debate with the reality by reacting against the fashion, stereotypes, the terror of the omnipresent consumption and blandness of life. The dialogue taken up by the theater should not only address politics and history, but the crucial element regarding the limits of humanness—posed by evil and suffering, or perhaps the question about the nature of sacredness in the modern “world without God.” |
