| Festival Description | With support from Berkeley College of Music, Phoenix Jazz Festival was launched in August 1995, just seven months after the Great Hanshin Earthquake in Kobe, with the idea to offer some relief to the people of Kobe through jazz and also by supporting music students in the Kansai area. The festival presents performances by well-known artists and also features a ‘clinic’ involving first-class professional musicians. The Festival attracts an audience of between 1,200 and 1,500 people every year and offers excellent opportunities for international cultural exchange. |
