Sweden is known to have a choral tradition that is full of life. In fact, it is one of the most wide spread popular movements in the country. Lund, in particular, has a flourishing choir scene with many choirs, some of which are well known also abroad. It is therefore natural for the city to engage in a recurring choir festival. Lund International Choral Festival opened in October 2006 for the first time and will occur every two years from then on. The festival is an excellent way to create a forum for choral and cultural life both nationally and internationally. The week will be an inspiring event of great musical experiences when some of the world’s most prominent choirs, vocal ensembles and conductors gather in Lund.
