| Festival Description | Splendour in the Grass is an annual alternative music and youth culture event that celebrated its inaugural edition in 2001. Splendour In The Grass is planning to return to Byron Bay for the 2012 event back to where it all started, Belongil Fields in Byron Bay. The festival features a stellar lineup of musicians, local arts and crafts and cuisine. Immerse yourself in the full ‘Splendour experience’ by taking advantage of the on-site camping adjacent to the festival site. A mini version of the festival called the Spin Off Music Festival features some of Splendour’s festival lineup takes place in Adelaide, SA. - Awards
- Returning to Woodfordia SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS is over the moon to announce its recently received Commended Award from the international ‘A Greener Festival Awards’ organisation. The Greener Award is based on a 56 point checklist which covers green office policies, energy use and carbon reduction, travel and transport, support for green initiatives, waste management, recycling, water use and environmental protection and noise pollution. The Awards organisers have a team of environmental auditors who visited SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS in 2010 to review and assess our environmental initiatives. Based on this sterling achievement we are excited to announce some cutting edge new environmental initiatives in a bid to pursue our goal of continuous environmental improvement.
- Emissions and Recylcing
- Apart from tackling our emissions we have renewed our focus on increasing recycling rates and reducing the generation of waste. In line with both our ‘Environment Policy’ and ‘Procurement Policy’ we continue to ban non recyclable and non biodegradable packaging and have been working with our construction and production divisions to reduce the consumption of building materials. Splendour container recycling systems we are excited to announce our ‘Splendour Recycling Club’ program that gives our very motivated and switched on audience members a chance to play their part in recycling drink containers across the festival site. These are just a few of the initiatives proposed by the festival.
