| Festival Description | Sofia Jazz Peak is one of the successors of the Sofia Music And Film Fest. Founded in 2003, the festival maintains is a good balance between national artists and musicians from abroad. From the start, Bulgarian masters such as Theodosii Spassov, Milcho Leviev, Jivko Petrov, Ylduz Ibrahimova, Hristo Yotzov and Beloslava—just to name a few—took center stage in the truest sense of the word. Countless performances by some of the most gifted musicians from other countries have included Jim Mullen, one of the inventors of British Jazz-Funk, Peter Herbolzheimer, Germany’s big band genius, Fra Fra Sound, one of the most interesting World Music acts on this planet and many others. Sofia Jazz Peak attracts an even wider audience including people who do not regard themselves as Jazz lovers. Apart from classical and Straight Ahead Jazz, the program includes World Music, Jazz-Funk, Fusion, Soul and many other genres. The organizer’s radio station, Jazz FM 104.0 stands for “good music” or “music of high quality”. Its founder and president, Vassil Dimitrov, was the one who created Sofia Jazz Peak. |
