| Festival Description | The annual Duke Ellington Jazz Festival honors Dizzy Gillespie’s birthday and his remarkable contribution to jazz and 20th century music. The Festival program includes an all day FREE “Jazz on the Mall” featuring Dizzie’s Grammy Award-winning United Nation Orchestra with Paquito D’Rivera and the United Nation Orchestra, Airto Moreira and Flora Purim, and the Dizzy Gillespie All-Star Orchestra, which will highlight Gillespie’s international impact. The Duke Ellington Jazz Festival offers more than 50 performances at concert venues and clubs throughout Washington, D.C. |
