Thematically Putbus - Festspiele presents one composer from the previous century, or engages in the exploration of a certain epoch in musical history. The festival takes place every year from the Ascension Day until Whit Monday by providing a cultural event on Rügen island before most of the seasonal visitors flock to the resort area. The early birds then receive an excellent and first class cultural treat. The second goal of the festival is the support of young talents. Therefore a new element was added to Putbus-Festspielen, which is called “Das kleine Stundenkonzert am Nachmittag” (The Small Afternoon Student Concert). The students from the Rostock Music And Theater Academy take the stage in these concerts.
