| Festival Description | The quality of the music and the depth of the performer line-up is the single greatest ingredient in our success. Terry Wickham, producer, selects artists within a broad musical mandate. We have consistenly inceased our artistic budget in order to bring the best performers anywhere to Edmonton. Our vision is to continue to improve as a world-calibre folk music festival. Ani De Franco, Lhasa, Earl Scruggs, Natalie Merchant, Great Blue Sea, The Dixie Hummingbirds and Lucky Dube to name just a few who appear in the 2004 festival. Edmonton Folk Fest continually is looking for additional ways to make the event as ‘green’ as possible. Solar panels are set up near the main retail tent, and biodegradable beer cups are used at the beer tents—made entirely from cornstarch which biodegrades in a matter of months and is then turned into compost. Reusable plates have been popular—food patrons are charged a $2 deposit that is refunded when the plates are returned. The organizers are trying out biodegradable cutlery for next year… |
