Dance Floripa is a youth and childrens dance festival in ballet, jazz and street dance. The festival was conceived in 2002 to create a venue for youthful dancers to perform at the amateur level. Kátia Couto and Luciana Gomes Alves, professional dancers mobilized and created Dance Floripa in the State Mostra with the intention to offer the opportunity to the talented youth dancers throughout the state. Approximately 2,500 participants, including pupils, professors and spectators participate of the event that include groups and dance schools from diverse localities sucha as Blumenau, Criciúma, Garopaba, Imbituba, Itajaí, Joinville, Lagoon, Orleans, Palhoça, Are Jose, Are Ludgero, Tubarão and others.
