The Festival Universitário de Teatro de Blumenau (College Theater’s Festival of Blumenau) is a rare moment of manifestation of college theater groups in Brazil, and, also, other non-professional groups. During its 20 years of existence, the Festival has incorporated presentations of groups from countries whose language is Spanish and Portuguese—which promotes a great cultural exchange between everybody involved.

Even far away from the major theater cities (São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro), the Festival, because of its quality and continuity of realization, became a national reference to college theater groups’ productions. Every year the Festival is part of the states’ winter calendar of events, and every College theater group and non-professional theater group in the country awaits anxiously.

Always connected with the most recent theater productions, in its 21st edition, the Festival will have “UMA ESTÉTICA CONTEMPORÂNEA?” (A Contemporary Esthetics?) as a theme, to guide discussions and reflections generated by analyses of the presentations, workshops, lectures and other actions to take place during the Festival’s realization.
